Si bien se define Activo como todo aquello que puede tener valor real o potencial para la organizaci\u00f3n, su aplicaci\u00f3n se ha centrado en industrias de capital intensivo y espec\u00edficamente en activos f\u00edsicos productivos o de infraestructura y en un gran porcentaje a partir de las iniciativas de las gerencias de mantenimiento e ingenier\u00eda.<\/h3>\n

Es muy importante resaltar que gesti\u00f3n de activos no es gesti\u00f3n de mantenimiento, que una iniciativa generada desde las gerencias de mantenimiento puede tener toda la intenci\u00f3n de lograr una implementaci\u00f3n exitosa pero mientras no se tenga un real apoyo de la Alta Direcci\u00f3n y un involucramiento genuino de las dem\u00e1s \u00e1reas de la organizaci\u00f3n, no se est\u00e1 logrando el objetivo principal para el cual fue concebido el est\u00e1ndar.<\/h3>\n
